Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to a new school year at North Dade Middle School. We hope that this year will be educationally profitable and stimulating for all: students, parents, and teachers.

Middle school is a time of change. Some students and parents have already gone through a year or two of the change and others have not. Here, students will be expected to attend school regularly, complete all assignments, and behave appropriately. I am expecting a great deal of support from parents and guardians by way of PTSA, visits to the school, and volunteer work.

Attached is a great deal of important information. Please read all items carefully and discuss them with your children). Parents and students should be familiar with the policies of North Dade Middle School and the Dade County Public School System. In addition you will find very important forms that must be completed and returned to the school immediately.

Student Data Cards: Student Data Cards are very important forms. Please look over the preprinted card and make any necessary corrections such as home phone number, parent work phone number, address, and persons permitted to pick up your child from school. As you know, this card plays a very important role in the security of your child while here at North Dade Middle School. The importance of current information at all times cannot be stressed enough.

Lunch Application (optional): Please read the lunch application carefully before completing this form. A lunch application must be completed and returned promptly if you want your child to receive free or reduced-price lunch during the 2009--2010 school year. Double check your form to make sure all the necessary information has been completed and is in the correct spaces on the form.

School Insurance (optional): This form must be completed if you would like additional accident insurance for your child during the school year. Please note that school insurance is required if your child plans to participate in any school sports. The forms and the premiums are the same as last school year. There are two types of insurance plans being offered. Read the forms carefully.

Parents, please complete all forms and return them together in a timely manner. If you have questions about any of the forms, contact the main office at 305-624-8415. Also, feel free to call us with questions or concerns about any other information included in this packet.

Mr. Lowell C. Crawford, Principal
