Vision Statement
North Dade Middle School’s
International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program vision is to
perform all tasks related to our students’ academic and social
development with a spirit of excellence. Our vision will
extend towards the belief that all of our students will be
successful and productive components of our community
at-large. We also envision that all of our students will
become lifelong learners with a keen awareness on global
issues affecting our society thusly creating an international
minded student whose focus is on outcomes that impact the
future as well as the present. It is with this belief system
that all of our students will prosper and propel well beyond
the ultimate and unlimited goal that “Success Has No Limit.”
Mission Statement
North Dade Middle School’s
International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program mission is to
infuse effective strategies designed to enhance our students’
academic and social development. These strategies will include
a streamlined approach to integrating the curriculum
objectives of the school’s Sunshine State Standards and those
contained within the contents of the International
Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IBMYP). The strategies
implemented will be developed to insure that rigorous and
relevant teaching and learning occurs with a student focal
point on the IBMYP’s 5 Areas of Interaction. Fundamentally
students will develop intellectual, social, multicultural and
technological skill sets that are required to become
successful members of the broader more global societies in
which we collectively cohabitate.
Core Value Statement
North Dade Middle School’s
International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program core values
revolve around the concept that all of our students will
develop a more enhanced perspective on the pursuit of academic
excellence, intercultural awareness, world citizenship and the
ability to make a more positive global impact through the
consistent modeling of the IBMYP’s 5 Areas of Interaction. The
key aspects of our value system ultimately promotes positive &
successful thinking among our students & staff, honesty, the
identification of true purpose, fidelity of implementation and
a heightened sense of school wide accountability.

Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to a new school year at North Dade Middle School. We
hope that this year will be educationally profitable and
stimulating for all: students, parents, and teachers.
Middle school is a time of change. Some students and parents
have already gone through a year or two of the change and
others have not. Here, students will be expected to attend
school regularly, complete all assignments, and behave
appropriately. I am expecting a great deal of support from
parents and guardians by way of PTSA, visits to the school,
and volunteer work.
Attached is a great deal of important information. Please read
all items carefully and discuss them with your children).
Parents and students should be familiar with the policies of
North Dade Middle School and the Dade County Public School
System. In addition you will find very important forms that
must be completed and returned to the school immediately.
Student Data Cards: Student Data Cards are very important
forms. Please look over the preprinted card and make any
necessary corrections such as home phone number, parent work
phone number, address, and persons permitted to pick up your
child from school. As you know, this card plays a very
important role in the security of your child while here at
North Dade Middle School. The importance of current
information at all times cannot be stressed enough.
Lunch Application (optional): Please read the lunch
application carefully before completing this form. A lunch
application must be completed and returned promptly if you
want your child to receive free or reduced-price lunch during
the 2009--2010 school year. Double check your form to make sure
all the necessary information has been completed and is in the
correct spaces on the form.
School Insurance (optional): This form must be completed if
you would like additional accident insurance for your child
during the school year. Please note that school insurance is
required if your child plans to participate in any school
sports. The forms and the premiums are the same as last school
year. There are two types of insurance plans being offered.
Read the forms carefully.
Parents, please complete all forms and return them together in
a timely manner. If you have questions about any of the forms,
contact the main office at 305-624-8415. Also, feel free to call
us with questions or concerns about any other information
included in this packet.
Mr. Lowell C. Crawford, Principal
